Eddy Butler

Eddy is now, in August 2010 making a run for the leadership of the British National Party on the grounds that the party's finances are in a very bad way. Nick Griffin is not amused. Accusations have been made.

STATEMENT BY EDDY BUTLER
In mid March, serious allegations of the theft of very large sums of party money were brought to my attention. I contemplated bringing the matter before the Advisory Council after the General Election, provided the allegations were confirmed. However, before this matter progressed much further, the information was leaked to the current Chairman Nick Griffin, who reacted by removing from office the three people who knew about the allegations and the plan to raise it at the AC: myself, Emma Colgate and Mark Collett.

Go to Eddy's blog and see what he has to say for himself. Dirty washing is being made public. This is great news for the enemy and there are plenty of them.

Eddy Butler is the current head of the British National Party Elections Department and has been dubbed the party's "election guru" by their newspaper Freedom.[1]

Butler was originally the Tower Hamlets organiser for the National Front but then switched over to the British National Party in 1986[2] and he first came to prominence in the early 1990s when he was party organiser in Tower Hamlets. Whilst in charge here Butler masterminded the 'Rights for Whites' campaign, a locally-based initiative that sought to highlight perceived council bias against White British. The campaign, which initially presented itself as independent before linking directly to the BNP, was instrumental in building up support for the party in the area which culminated in the election of Derek Beackon in Millwall in 1993[3].

Butler's success brought him promotion within the party and he was soon appointed National Elections Officer. Whilst in this position he was the victim of a knife attack, allegedly carried out by members of Combat 18 in 1994.[4] Butler also became closely associated with party 'modernisers' such as Tony Lecomber, Michael Newland and others associated with The Patriot magazine. As a member of the Bloomsbury Forum, Butler was closely linked to the founders of the Freedom Party and joined that group in 2001.[5] Although appointed as Campaign Director, Butler has since returned to the BNP and played a leading role in the 2006 local elections. In 2009 he was the party's lead candidate in the Eastern region where he closely missed out on being elected to the European Parliament, securing 6.1% of the vote. He was the party's candidate for Harlow[6] in the 2010 General Election. On 18/06/2010 Eddy Butler announced that he would challenge the current leader, Nick Griffin, for the leadership (National Chairman) of the BNP in the summer.
